JMP Surveys Ltd is a family-run asbestos surveying company based in Sudbury Suffolk, with more than two decades of experience in the asbestos industry.

Established in 2002, we have worked across domestic, commercial and industrial properties, building extensive practical knowledge of asbestos-containing materials and the challenges they can present within buildings and planned projects.

Our background includes both asbestos surveying and historic experience of asbestos removal work, giving us a practical understanding of asbestos from both an inspection and site perspective.

Our aim is simple:

Thorough surveys. Clear reports. Personal service.

Meet Our Directors

Richard Instance

Drawing on a strong foundation in construction and refurbishment, Richard specialises in asbestos surveying and site assessment. With over 20 years dedicated to asbestos work, he applies deep trade knowledge to every project.

His background is particularly valuable when conducting intrusive surveys. His previous building experience give him unique insight into construction methods, enabling him to reliably locate concealed asbestos materials hidden within building structures.

Richard holds a P402 qualification in asbestos surveying, combining hands-on trade expertise with technical industry standards.

William Instance

William joined the family business in 2010 and has extensive experience of surveying domestic, commercial and industrial properties.

A significant part of his work has involved asbestos surveying for local authorities and housing associations, including projects in Cambridge, Ipswich, and Colchester. This has given him considerable experience working in occupied homes, managed housing stock and larger programmes of planned works.

William holds a P402 qualification in asbestos surverying and a P405 in the management of asbestos in buildings.

Our Approach

We believe a good asbestos survey starts with understanding why the survey is required.

Before attending, we establish the proposed work, areas requiring inspection, access arrangements and any existing asbestos information.

This allows us to plan the inspection around the client's actual requirements rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
